I think you can join every race apart from the events which take place at the Rockingham track.

To join you just have to join the server on time. You can find the password for the server below this chatbox.

Good luck!

Melting Tires at Kyoto
youliftyoulose, Saturday, December 26 2015 - 09:00:46 // comment: 7

Race 4 of the 22nd season of the S2 series of Absolute Beginners race took place at Kyoto Ring Grand Prix Long.. The FZ5 was the car designated for this track, a car that was prone to handle more like a ship than a car. With several AB drivers coming off a grueling endurance race just the day before it would remain to be seen how much that would impact today's results.

LRK-racer, Mishu and Mazdarati look like they are going to to go 3 wide into the chicane.

And the shot you were all wondering about.

Once the 20 minute qualifying period had ended the usual suspects were at the top. They were displaced on the pole position, however, by Mishu who set the fastest time with a 2:40.81. Mazdarati sat beside him on the grid with team GRT (LRK-racer and AkuLambat) one row back. Daniel, seemed to suffer the most from the lack of practice and was way back in P17.

As the drivers dumped their clutches to get the race underway, everything appeared to go smoothly. Mishu was in danger of getting swamped on both sides by Mazdarati and LRK-racer as they braked for the chicane but managed to stay in the lead.

Speed Senna got in a bit deep in the corner after the chicane and gave AkuLambat a bit of a tap on the rear bumper. While AkuLambat was not disturbed by the bump, Speed Senna ran wide and found the gravel. Returning to the track he found 7 positions back in P12.

On lap 4 Camoradi and AkuLambat went for the same piece of tarmac and made fairly hard contact. The incident sent both cars spinning losing several places in the process.

Both drivers are going to lose out after getting too close.

By lap 5 Speed Senna had recovered from his earlier mistake and had worked his way back to P7. As he and GeneralPurpose diced through several corner eventually they got too close and made contact with GeneralPurpose getting the worst of it and ending up in the grass.

Speed Senna and GeneralPurpose fighting for every inch of the track.

As the race approached the halfway point and the pit window, LRK-racer was heard complaining of overheated rear tire and was struggling with the car. At this point in the race he had a comfortable lead over Norbert (P4) of almost 10 seconds. It would remain to be seen if he could hang on and deal with his melting rears over the last half of the race.

On lap 8, AkuLambat lost control heading to the chicane and hit the wall hard. His car had suffered considerable damage as he returned to racing in P13.

By the time everyone had completed their pit stops, Mazdarati had put in enough fast laps to come out in front of Mishu by the slimmest of margins. LRK-racer was still hanging on to 3rd with Camoradi eyeing the last podium spot.

Not everyone had a smooth pit stop, however. Rookie, Daniel missed the window entirely and had to serve a "STOP AND GO" penalty. He compounded his error by speeding as he left the pits and had to serve another penalty.

With only a handful of laps remaining, Mishu began to push hard, hoping he could force Mazdarati into making a mistake. While he came close he could not get near enough to attempt a pass and had to settle for 2nd. Mazdarat took the win after a hard fought race. LRK-racer managed to nurse his overheated tires to the finish line and edged out Norbert by less than 4 seconds to take 3rd.

Mazdarati maximizes his points by putting in the fastest lap of the of the race as he crossed the finish line for the win!
