I think you can join every race apart from the events which take place at the Rockingham track.

To join you just have to join the server on time. You can find the password for the server below this chatbox.

Good luck!

Fantastic Finish with FBM at Fern Bay
youliftyoulose, Tuesday, May 29 2012 - 05:23:12 // comment: 7

The 6th and final race of the 4th season in the Formula Racing series took place at Fern Bay Gold in the reverse direction. The championship scenario was virtually identical as it was in the S2 season finale. Duck Tape leading by the same 14 point margin over rival Mazdaraiti. For Mazdarati to claim the title he needed a win and Duck Tape to finish no higher than 4th.

Daniel and LuckyWill are about to find out that open wheels cars do not like this type of close racing.

Weefelly flying after T-boning Daniel

Duck Tape almost ending his bid for the championship after sending his tach where it was not designed to go.

Bandes and Weefelly overtaking a wounded Duck late in the race.

Mazdarati taking the win while looking in his mirrors to see if Steve can overtake the Duck.

Duck Tape happy to see the finish line as Steve misses out on a podium and being the spoiler in the championship.

A small but determined group of drivers turned up for qualifying. Duck Tape took the pole with Mazdarati a close 2nd. They were the only drivers to get into the 1:19’s. Daniel, desperately wanting to help his team mate out did a PB and qualified 3rd although more than 1 second back.

It didn’t take long for THR’s plans to go awry. Before the end of lap 1 LuckyWill and Daniel got together sending both cars onto the grass. RedLabel, Weefelly, and Knistling were all caught up in the mayhem. RedLabel, Weefelly and Daniel all headed for the pits for repairs. By the time they returned to the track they occupied the last 3 positions with Daniel last (14th) and already a lap down.

Up at the front Duck Tape was setting a blistering pace making the most of a bold move being the only car to put on R1’s. The front two soon left the field behind and by lap 7 were 10 seconds ahead of the pack. Mazdarati kept the pressure on Duck Tape hoping that going with the super soft tires would eventually prove to be Duck Tapes undoing.

RedLabel was the first to retire. Running 12th, he made contact with the wall and decided he had endured enough.

LuckyWill, having recovered from his earlier mishap was running a strong 6th when got into the right rear of Xnyle. Both cars spun and toberkel ran into LuckyWill. LuckyWill was the only car to suffer enough damage to require an unscheduled pit stop.

Daniel, running last until the halfway point in the race, finally caught up to Kelle and Gutholz and moved into 11th. Weefelly was also doing a masterful job of salvaging his race had worked his way up to 8th.

One lap before the pits were to open, Xnyle running all alone in 5th put his car into a spin. While not damaged, by the time he corrected his direction he had allowed toberkel to get by.

With only 10 laps to go it seemed as if the front 4 would follow each over the remaining laps with Duck Tape taking the win and the championship, Mazdarati a close 2nd and Bandes and Steve 3rd and 4th respectively. It was going to be much closer than anyone could have predicted. On lap 25 Duck Tape inexplicably grabbed 1st gear rather than 3rd. The momentary lapse pegged the rev limiter to near 14 thousand. Needless to say it took a lot of life out of the engine. Mazdarati quickly pounced and took over the lead. The only question remained as to whether Duck Tape could nurse his car around the final laps without dropping any lower than 3rd. With 9 laps to go his lead over 3rd place Bandes was around 12 seconds. Bandes was not his main concern, though, it was Steve, who was around a half a lap behind but closing fast.

One by one the previously lapped cars began to un-lap themselves. First it was Xnyle, then Cetus, followed by Weefelly. With 4 laps to go Bandes took 2nd dropping Duck Tape to 3rd. Steve had closed to under 20 seconds. It looked like it was going down to the wire. With 3 to go Steve was only 11 seconds behind. Two laps from the end Duck Tape was almost in sight 8 seconds up the track. As Steve started the final lap he could see the wounded Duck 5 seconds in front of him. A podium was his for the taking.

In the end Duck Tape coaxed his car across the finish line a mere 1.5 seconds in front of Steve. The 3rd place kept him only 2 points ahead of Mazdarati in the title race. Mazdarati took the win with Bandes claiming the 2nd step on the podium. Congratulations to Duck Tape on another championship. He couldn’t have made it any more exciting. As in the S2 series, Tortoise and Hare Racing claimed another constructor’s title.

Daniel, after showing such promise in qualifying, was disappointed in not being able to help his team mate overthrow Duck Tape, took comfort from the fact that he once again appeared to have edged out Weefelly in the overall standings.

Good racing everyone. See you next season!
