I think you can join every race apart from the events which take place at the Rockingham track.

To join you just have to join the server on time. You can find the password for the server below this chatbox.

Good luck!

Hi, I am new here, and I have some questions.

does anyone know if in LFS the grip on the track increases as more rubber is left there? i mean especially in the braking spots, where a lot of the tirewear appears?

no, the track grip doesn´t change. But if your setup is right the tires should get more grip when they start to cool down after the initial ~10 laps.

thx,
i noticed the cooling down of the tires - especially with the fz5. after 15 laps finally below 80 deg
is this effect on real cars really so big? just because the rubber gets a little thinner?

The tyre behaviour is not based on real time data at the moment, that's why the devs are working on new tyre physics.

I think in real life tyres need to be rubbed in indeed to deliver their maximum performance, but after a couple of laps they start to wear and they get worse again. Just my thoughts as I don't have real racing experience. Maybe Gene can shine his light on this?

That is funny. Back in my day we still had tread on the tire and a set of tires would last the whole season. Then the serious racers would get a new set but us poor guys would keep using the same tires for the next season.

Since heat is made when rubber particles start rubbing against each other where 'tire-deformation' happens, new tires tend to heat up quite fast, because there is A LOT OF RUBBER rubbing itself hot.

If you lower pressure, even more rubber is 'moving' so heating up gets more and more. If temp rises, pressure rises too, and the normal heating decreases a bit.

If your tires start to wear out, there is less rubber that is moving, so tires are not heating up that much anymore!

Apart from that, drifting ALSO heats up tires. But it's not the only reason for tires to heat up. Deformation is the main reason.

It' s a bit like real-live, only I think in real-live effects are not this obvious, there are more factors spreading the issue.
